Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Are DownDog Yoga Mats guaranteed?

A: Yes! We know you will love your mat and enjoy it for years to come. If, for any reason, you are unhappy with the quality of your mat, just return it to the address indicated on your packing slip within 30 days for a replacement mat.

Q: How long will it take to receive my DownDog yoga mat?

A: Once you order your customized or standard DownDog mat, you can expect to receive it in just 5-7 business days! (This does not include holidays, weekends, or day the order was placed.) If you would like expedited shipping for an extra fee, we offer that, too. Please see options offered at checkout.

Q: How do I care for my DownDog yoga mat?

A: We pride ourselves on the quality of our yoga mats and they are made to be extremely durable. To preserve their vibrancy, we recommend cleaning them with a non-toxic cleaner and paper towel or soft rag. Do not put your DownDog yoga mat in the washing machine or dryer or use bleach to clean it.

Q: How did you get the idea for DownDog Yoga mats?

A: This is a deceptively simple answer: I was in yoga class, in downward-facing dog position and noticed my dog’s fur all over my mat (it's one of his favorite napping spots). It was a "Eureka!" kind of moment. You can learn more by reading the "About" section of this website.

Q: Why do you support the ASPCA?

A: DownDog yoga mats were inspired by my love for my two rescue dogs Otis and Emma (both 14 years old this year!). Without the help of the ASPCA and other organizations like them, these two enlightened beings would not have found their way to me. There are millions of other sweet souls  across the nation waiting for people to love them. I feel called to support the ASPCA in their mission to give pets the forever homes they deserve.

Q: How do you support the ASPCA?

As a recognized Business Ambassador, DownDog helps raise funds and awareness for the ASPCA through cause-related marketing and by donating to the APSCA on a quarterly basis. We are proud to support the ASPCA® and its mission to save lives. To learn more, visit: aspca.org

Q: Why does a DownDog yoga mat cost more than an average yoga mat?

A: Each DownDog mat is custom made to order using a proprietary printing process that actually infuses the image into the yoga mat for durability and longevity.  Unlike cheaper custom-printed yoga mats on the market, the image on your DownDog mat will not scratch, fade or otherwise be affected with regular use and will last for years.

Q: What is Doga?

A: The word “Doga” is the fusing of the words “dog” and “yoga.” It has great benefits for both humans and their canine friends, encouraging trust, love and bonding. It includes gentle acts of training, stretching and massage and is rapidly growing in popularity across the U.S.

Q: Can I put of pictures of anything I want on my customized DownDog yoga mat?

A: Of course! At DownDog, we honor the human/pet bond but encourage you to use images of whomever and whatever you love most (providing the images are not disturbing, lewd or illicit). We love cats, birds, rabbits, turtles, ferrets, horses… and even people! And if you have photos of places that inspire you, you can use them, too.  DownDog does not discriminate because we believe that love knows no labels.

Q: What inspired the DownDog logo?

A: The DownDog logo is a caricature of my Dog Otis, the love of my life and the inspiration behind the DownDog brand. You can read more about him in the “About” section of this website.

Q: Will you be rolling out other breed standard mats?

A: Yes! We plan on launching at least one new breed standard mat every month or so. Signup for our newsletter to find out which ones are coming. If you have ideas or suggestions, join our Facebook Group or shoot us an email. We love hearing from our pack!

Q: Do you sell other DownDog branded items?

Currently we are focused exclusively on yoga mats but have plans to expand the DownDog brand to yoga towels, water bottles and even baseball caps. Your thoughts are valued, so if you have suggestions, please reach out on Facebook or via email.
